The Pattimura Class corvettes best known to the public as Parchim Class (type 133.1) ASW / Patrol ships. Built during the cold war by the VEB Peenwerft shipyard in 1984-1985, it came into active duty with the Indonesian Navy starting from 1993 to 1996 as part of the 39 ex-DDR ship bought by Indonesia. The Indonesian navy received 16 of this type. Designed to be an Anti Submarine warship, used mainly as a patrol force. On 30th May 2009, KRI Untung Surapati 872 chased out Royal Malaysian Navy KD Baung 3509 who entered Indonesian Ambalat Waters illegally.

Update : KRI Memet Sastrawiria 380 caught on fire during a routine patrol mission on the 18th of august 2008. She was heavily damaged, she was sent to the bottom of the sea by the navy at the location of the accident as a final respect for her services with the Indonesian Navy.

Hello, I am a sailor was served on board from the 224 ( now "NUKU") in the Volksmarine from 1983 to 1986. I have a question is this ship today under Service or is it out of service today?
hi Olaf, KRI NUKU 873 is still in active duty, serving with the eastern fleet, on mei 2011, she escorted the minister of internal affair on his visit to the island of sulawesi.
